Third Conditional

Srtucture:

if + past perfect, …would + have + past participle

Had I been born a girl, I would have been named “Kate.”

The third conditionbal is also known as “the imaginary past” as it is used to describe a situation that didn’t happen, and to imagine the result of this situation.

Examples:

If you had not been late, we wouldn’t have missed the bus.
Clause reversal:
We wouldn’t have missed the bus, If you had not been late
