An easy way to make a question is to add a question tag. These are often used to check information. If the main clause is positive, the question tag is negative, and if the main clause is negative, it’s positive.
Example:
Positive main clause: You like bananas. -> You like bananas, don’t you?
Negative main clause: You don’t like bananas. -> You don’t like bananas, do you?
You like banana, don’t you?
James likes rugby, doesn’t he?
This is the right key, isn’t it?
Importance of tone:
The tone rises in the second clause:
Speaker 1: Javi can’t repair it, can he ?
Speaker 2: Of course Javi can repair it!
Speaker 1: He can! Fantastic!
