Wink Murder
Objective:
The goal for the murderer is to “eliminate” as many players as possible without being detected. Meanwhile, the other players aim to identify the murderer before it’s too late.
Setup:
- Number of Players: Ideally, 5 or more players.
- Materials: None required, though you might use a deck of cards or slips of paper for role selection.
- Roles:
- One murderer (secretly chosen).
- The rest are victims.
- Optionally, you can include a detective who has a special role in identifying the murderer.
How to Play:
- Assign Roles:
- Use cards or slips of paper to assign roles secretly. For example:
- Ace = murderer.
- King = detective (optional).
- Other cards = victims.
- Alternatively, the host can tap one player on the shoulder while everyone’s eyes are closed.
- Use cards or slips of paper to assign roles secretly. For example:
- Gameplay:
- All players sit in a circle or mingle casually in a room.
- The murderer “kills” victims by winking at them discreetly.
- If a player is winked at, they must “die” dramatically (and silently) by slumping over or lying down after a brief delay.
- Detective (Optional):
- The detective observes the group and tries to identify the murderer.
- They can make one formal accusation during the game.
- Accusations:
- Any player (including the detective) can accuse someone of being the murderer.
- If the accusation is correct, the game ends, and the murderer is caught.
- If the accusation is wrong, the accuser is “out” of the game.
- Winning:
- Murderer wins: If they eliminate all victims without being identified.
- Other players win: If they correctly identify the murderer.
Tips for Success:
- The murderer should be subtle and not make frequent eye contact to avoid suspicion.
- Victims should act naturally and not give away the murderer.
- If a detective is involved, they should be observant and look for behavioral clues.
Enjoy your game! It’s a great icebreaker and can lead to lots of laughter and suspense.
