CAE / C1 – Part 3: Use of English: Word Formation

Cambridge Use of English Part 3 in the C1 Advanced exam tests word formation skills and vocabulary control. Candidates receive a short text containing eight gaps, and each gap includes a base word written in capital letters. The task is to change the base word into the correct form so the sentence becomes grammatically and logically complete. Students must understand prefixes, suffixes, negative forms, and spelling changes. Success depends on reading the whole text carefully and recognising the meaning of each sentence. Regular practice with academic vocabulary, collocations, and common transformations can improve accuracy, speed, and confidence during the examination.
